El libro La ronda nos muestra el poema de Gabriela Mistral ¿En dónde tejemos la ronda? con ilustraciones de Isabel Hojas. Isabel Hojas se inspira en esos muñequitos de papel que se hacían plegando un papel y luego recortándolos, y donde todos quedaban de la mano.

Isabel recrea esta idea y la plasma en este poema de Gabriela Mistral donde cada niño o niña es un paisaje, tal como lo dice el poema: el mar, la cordillera, el bosque y las piedras. Esa geografía o más bien, el imaginario de esa geografía cardinal –es la que tenemos los que nacemos y crecemos en Chile– como idea básica del mundo.

La ronda queda cerrada dentro del libro, es una sorpresa ya que puede ser leído como un libro tradicional, o puede armarse como una ronda con los personajes por dentro y por fuera. Y así juntos, tomados de la mano, los personajes se muestran en la naturaleza que los genera y forma. Finalmente la ronda cerrada es un círculo, un sin fin.
